Job Description

Gruyere is one of Western Australia’s most exciting new gold mines. Gold Road Resources and Gold Fields are proud to have an established 50/50 JV partnership over Gruyere.

 

Role Details

Reporting to the Senior Operator: Pit, your main responsibility will be to provide quality mine geology services and work collaboratively with the broader Mining Team to maximise return from the operation.

 

A day in the life

  • 5:15am bus from camp to site (~10-minute bus ride)
  • Complete breathalyzer and sign in
  • Attend pre-start meeting – catch up with other departments, talk about safety, general overview of works happening
  • Senior Pit Operator gives out jobs for the day which could include:
  • Completing mark ups – in the open pit one person has a backpack with paint in it to spray the ground to show where the mobile plant operators should dig
  • Ore spotting
  • Collecting samples from open pit floor and stockpiles
  • Maintaining stock levels and equipment
  • Washing and detailing vehicles
  • Helping other departments as required
  • Using computers – systems such as excel (training provided)
  • Walking on uneven ground
  • Working around large open pit mobile plant machinery such as dump trucks, dozers, excavators
  • Working in all-weather elements – in particular the heat during Summer
  • Working in a small team – 2-3 Pit Assistants + Senior Pit Operator on each crew
  • Meal and rest breaks throughout the day
  • 5:30pm bus back to camp (~10-minute bus ride)

 

Training and development for the role is offered on site and the role is mostly outdoor manual labour type work.

 

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth or Drive in Drive out from the Goldfields region.

 

Key factors to your success include:

  • Experience working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Current manual C Class drivers’ licence
