Role Details
Reporting to the Metallurgist, your responsibilities will include performing a variety of laboratory tasks used to assess overall processing plant efficiency. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining the various online analysers around the processing facility which give real time information on important plant parameters.
A day in the life
- 5:00am bus from camp to site (~10-minute bus ride)
- Complete breathalyser and sign in for your shift
- Attend pre-start meeting – talk about safety, general overview of work happening that day
- Metallurgist gives out jobs for the day which could include:
- Learning to use the laboratory equipment and online analysers – including maintaining and cleaning
- Preparing samples for analysis – drying, rolling, mixing, subsampling, pulverising
- Carrying out acid digestions for mineral samples and test the samples
- Collecting test work samples from the process plant and conducting various metallurgical test work
- Data entry using computers – systems such as excel (training provided)
- Maintaining a high level of housekeeping in the laboratory
- Helping other departments as required
- Working in all-weather elements – in particular the heat during Summer
- Working in a small team – 2-3 people on each crew
- Meal and rest breaks throughout the day
- 5:15pm bus back to camp (~10-minute bus ride)
Training and development for the role is offered on site there is manual labour and lifting required on a day to day basis.
This role is offered on an initial 6 month fixed term contract basis, with the view it would lead to a permanent position after successfully completed the trainee program. It is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth or Drive in Drive out from the Goldfields region.
